I've always had a black thumb. I can look at a plant and it withers up and dies. Honestly, if plants had feet, they would run far, far away from me.
But I'm determined to develop a green thumb. I want to make things grow and thrive, not waste away.
I've managed to keep this baby alive all summer long (in some pretty extreme heat, mind you).
And these beauties, they are doing pretty well.
So with all my outside success, I've decided to try a house plant.
There were some plants left after my Pawpaw's funeral, so I brought one home with me. We are going on a week of keeping it alive! I'm so good. Ha!
This isn't the best picture, but I really need to clean up the table it is sitting on so you can get a good idea of how it looks. But you get the idea, for now.
Have I just been lucky this summer? Or has my thumb really gone green? Only time will tell.
Any advice on making plants grow? And do you think that if I can keep these babies alive I could grow a garden? Or am I just being silly??

Oh the black thumb has cursed me too. This summer I bought some heirloom tomato plants, bought buckets, drilled holes, bought organic soil, watered, trimmed, and fussed over them and absolutely NOTHING happened. They bloomed but never grew a hint of a tomato. I kill everything. Succulents are the only type of plant that I haven't killed and I see no hope for me in the future. I'm very impressed at your abilities!
I've been debating growing a garden, too. Then I went to a workshop at the county extension office about starting a fall garden, and they were using all kinds of words I had literally never heared in my entire life. Ever. So I decided that we'll give it a shot with peppers in the spring and see how it goes. :) lol Keep up the good work! Go for it!
I so wish I had a green thumb. I manage to kill anything plant that comes within a few feet of me. Too much water...too much sun...always too much of something.
Yours look beautiful! You'll have to give me some tips.
Jenn I am so proud for you, you have done well with your plants:))) yes you can do it, if you have the time to tend to it, time is hard to come by with three little girls:) but it could be a fmaily project, so go for it!!
